Article Title: Russian Airstrike in Syria Targeted CIA-Backed Rebels, not ISIS
    Article Date: October 2, 2015
Who: Russia, Syria, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter, Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
    Where: Syria
    When: Wednesday, Sept 30 2015.
What happened: Military jets carried out airstrikes in Syria for the first time on Wednesday, targeting what Moscow said were Islamic State positions. Others cast doubt on that claim, saying the Russians appeared to be attacking opposition groups fighting Syrian government forces. One of the airstrikes hit an area primarily held by rebels backed by the CIA and allied spy services. The U.S. and its allies were angry at the Russians on many scores: that they are supporting Mr. Assad; that they aren’t coordinating their actions with the existing, U.S.-led anti-Islamic State coalition.
Why this event is relevant: I believe this article is relevant because i think Russia is allied with Syria for there own agenda.
Reaction: I feel like Russia teaming up with Syria was and still is a bad idea. It has only been a week and Russia has already carried a airstrike. I really think Russia has their own agenda with Syria and its not a good one, the airstrike caught everyone off guard. The targeted was not terrorist it was opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Opinion: I think the U.S should step in and cut all ties between the the two countries. I say this because i think if the U.S don't step in soon enough it will get worse then it already is in Syria. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad first action after teaming up with Russia was launching an airstrike on opponents.
Connection: I choose this article because i think this is something the U.S should have control over but it look like they don't.

    Article Date: 10/2/15 8:47am
    Who:by Daniel W Dreznet
    Where Umpquna community college
    When:October 1, 2015
What happened:This article was about a massive shooting at umpquna college that lead to a sad change in 2015. Obama speaks out his thoughts on the aggressiveness of the shootings. He thinks that the laws have to be turned around to stop the killings of innocent people. Planned parent hood is a good way to hear other parents accomplishments
Why this event is relevant: the event is relevant because it explains the struggle of massive killings in phildelphia. Other family members are tired of losing love ones.
Reaction (my feelings towards this article is deplorable because hearing young college students getting shot is a tragic thing.Becuse of this these young adults won't be able to live a good life anymore.
Opinion (I think that the person who decide to kill innocent college students should think twice about what they did.
Connection (I choose this article because I wanted to know what the government is going to do about gun violence.

“Trump: Armed teachers could have stopped Oregon massacre”
    Sun October 4, 2015
Trump, at a campaign event in Franklin, Tennessee, talked about gun laws and the Oregon Community College shooting. He said if the teachers were armed then this terrible event wouldn’t have been as tragic. In past campaign events he said that mental illness is the biggest cause for shootings in the country and not guns. Trump feels that we should expand the right to be armed and wants to get rid of gun-free zones. This is relevant because this is Trump’s response to gun laws and mass shootings in the U.S. He feels that people carrying is not a problem but infact should be the norm in America. What he believes the real problem is mental ill people carrying. I personally am shocked by Trumps continuous ignorance on important matters such as this one. He is blind to the large business that is gun trafficking in the U.S and that gun laws need to crack down and be more strict. Instead he feels everyone should be armed easily and that “crazy people” should be watched and never be allowed to carry a gun or “protection” as it seems Trump sees it. I think Trump needs to educate himself on crucial matters such as this and much more before he completely ruins this country. Trump is a leading republican candidate and it just reminds me of Hitler convincing all of Germany that he had the best intentions for their country. He is saying all the right things to the wrong people. There’s also a quote that reminds me of both men and their countries and it says “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.” I hope Bernie steps up and starts running this whole presidential campaign. Bernie 2016!!!

Article Title: Obama's Change Crusade hits reality on Guns
    Article Date; October 3, 2015
    Who: President Obama
    Where: Washington D.C.
    When: 2015
What Happened: Not too long after the mass murder that took place at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, President Obama once again had to address gun legislation. Obama expressed his annoyance of making changes that don't change the issue. He continued to say that their choices are what to blame and said that it's a political choice. The amount of space that financial issues and even health care reform have prevented the focus on firearms reform. I believe that this event is relevant because we are tired of innocent lives being taken by individuals who should not have firearms. Knowing that President Obama feels the same way shows that an action needs to take place soon. I think that those who receive firearms who are not involved with the law enforcement need to have a serious background check. If they refuse then they should be unable to receive the weapon of their choice. I chose this article because even as a teenager hearing and seeing news about lives taken due to the bad choice of one individual bothers me. The mass murders of innocent people are getting old. Changes need to be made.

In the meantime the little boy played basketball in their backyard and a neighbor called the cops because he thought the child was being neglected. The cops then came and took the children into custody for a long time. This is relevant because I sometimes have to wait for my parents to get home. I feel appalled with this whole incident.

    Article Date:Mon October 5, 2015

    Who:Tracey Heu

Where:This event took place Roseburg, Oregon.

    When:Within the last 2 weeks.

What happened:There was a deadly rampage by a man in the oregon college classroom. The gunman came in the classroom and began to let shots off, he also began to kill people left and right. The girl, Tracey Hue, survived this event by pretending a be dead in someone else`s puddle of blood.

Why this event is relevant:This relevant because a high number of people were killed when this event took place. It is also relevant because this ended college students carrers, dreams, and goals that they set for the rest of their lives.

Reaction :My reaction to this is that it`s a bad thing that happened. it`s not just bad on those who were involved but also bad on the community around the college. That incident could have gave that college a bad name, and reputation.

Opinion :My opinion is that this accident should not have happened.

Connection :I can connect this event with another event that took place in which a man went armed into a church with people and began to kill them one by one also.

Article Title: Airstrike hits Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan

    Article Date: October 3, 2015

Who was involved? U.S and Afghanistan Military, Afghanistan hospital

Where did this event happen? Afghan city of Kunduz

When did this event happen? Couple days ago

What happen? The U.S military mistakenly bombed the Afghanistan hospital, while trying to target the Taliban fighters. This bombing lasted at least 30 minutes until the doctors without borders informed the U.S and Afghanistan military that they had bombed the hospital. Killing 12 staff members, seven patience's, and three children and many more.

Why is this event relevant? This event is relevant because the U.S has done a horrible thing, we bombed a hospital now we are going to go into a bigger war. Innocent people lives were taking away, while they are in a place where they are suppose to be getting taking care of, not worrying about dying.

Reaction: My attitude towards this cant even be expressed. This is the most dumbest thing a military can do. See these wars are not safe for nobody, taking innocent people lives away over nothing. Now families have to deal with this, what a shame.

Connection: This was a very interesting topic.

Article Title: Roughly 6,000 federal inmates to be released

Article Date: Tue October 6, 2015

Who: the federal Bureau of Prisons, Sally Quillian, and the Department of justice.

    When: Tuesday of this week.

What happened: The department of justice will early release 6,000 inmates later this month because of overcrowdedness. Also they will release them to relieve the harsh sentences given to drug dealers. One-third of the inmates are immigrates and will be deported.

Why this event is relevant: I believe this is important because crime and the prison system affects our lives a lot. A good percentage of our money goes to the federal system. Also this is relevant because these 6,000 inmates will soon be released again to our neighborhoods, states, and cities. So we should care if their are going to be walking around us.

Reaction: I feel like this could be a good or bad problem because you don’t know if these criminals would still commit the same crime around our citizens again. Affecting our daily lives with non-sense. But this could be a good thing if these inmates that are being released learnt their lesson while in prison.

Opinion: I think this is not a good idea because a lot of people I see when they come out of jail don’t learn their lesson. Drug dealers would probably still deal drugs which could lead to possible more violence. I say put the 6,000 inmates into halfway houses and that could possibly help more violence that could erupt.

Connection: I choose this article because it was surprising to me that the department of justice will be even doing this because normally they’re trying to put people in jail not take them out.

Article Title: The White House Asked Kickstarter to Launch a Campaign for Refugees
    Article Date: October 6, 2015
Who: Syrian Refugees, Barack Obama, UNHCR(non-profit)
    Where: Washington D.C., Mid-eastern Europe
    When: Beginning in 2011

    What happened:
Kickstarter, a funding organization, agreed to help the White House fund for the Syrian refugees that are on a journey to the middle eastern part of Europe to escape the chaos in Syria. The political party have been criticized for doing little to help the refugees. Currently, they have donated more than $4.5 billion in humanitarian aid, but still not enough for the refugees.
    Relevant:
This is relevant because it shows how the U.S. tries to hide beneath their problems when they know they will be dragged in the world’s problems. This is also relevant because of how Hungary and Germany ending their plan on letting a certain amount refugees enter pass the border, which created homeless and unsheltered refugees waiting for hope.
    Reaction:
My reaction about this is that the U.S. isn’t hiding when a certain group needs their help. They are contributing by using a part of the internet to draw donations in, instead of trying to argue about the topic with the House of Representatives.
    Opinion:
I think that the U.S. is stepping up at helping other people in different countries, step by step. I honestly believe that this is the smartest decision Congress has created, only because I think of John Boehner not serving as Speaker of the House anymore.
    Connection:
One connection I can make with this article is when people use Kickstarter to create something that would benefit them and the people surrounding them, and that is what the U.S is creating.

Article Title:Ben Carson says Jews may have stopped Holocaust if they had guns
    Article Date: October 9,2015
    Who: Ben Carson
    Where: CNN Studio
    When: Last week
What Happen: In the article I found a controversial topic was brought up by Republican candidate Ben Carson. In a book he wrote he basically says if Jewish people ,during the time of the Holocust had guns, the mass killings would have never happen. He says there's a reason to why dictators take guns first. He doesn't farther elaborate on that statement. But many people are offend by his statement. A member of a anti-Semitism monitoring group has said you cannot link gun control and the Holocust together. They saying its historically inaccurate. Also some believe it's offensive to those that were in and to those that survived the Holocust. In my opinion, there is a fine line between the two. But, I agree with his statement that the first thing dictators take are the guns. To me the reason for that is do to the fact that guns stir the pot of a revolution and it's easier to overthrow when guns are in the equation. But, because the Holocust is such a sensitive topic, he was wrong for trying to link the two together because the Holocust had nothing to do with gun control at all.I picked this article because I am intrigued by the Holocust. Also because this is such a controversial topic it can stir debate on rather or not he has a point to what he said.

    Article Date: 10-8-2015
    Who: Patients in the US
    Where: Everywhere in the US
    When: Week of 10-4-15
What happened: Research shows that the US spends the most in health care. However, despite spending so much on it we're getting considerable results from it. Compared to other countries, the US spends more on healthcare and get less health benefits.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because we should be be informed how much we're spending to get treated and know if we're the benefits for what it's worth. Knowing that our countries healthcare is not up to par compared to other countries and that it's also expensive at the same time shows that we do something as citizens to fix it. This also might spark a few people to try and fix this problem.
Reaction: When I read this, I was shocked that we're spending so much money to get healthcare and yet, we're getting reasonable results. How is it that other countries spend much less than we do and get better healthcare. I think that's outrageous.
Opinion: I think we should fix this issue. A possible solution to this is probably to lower healthcare cost. That way finance is less of an issue. Either that or improve healthcare overall in general.
Connection: I chose this article because I was curious to see how our country's healthcare is doing at the moment. The title also intrigued me and it got me hooked.

    Article Date: Friday, October 9th

    Who: Wedded/Newly wedded couples

    Where: Manhattan, Long Island,etc.

When: Around the month of October

What happened: This article speaks and sheds some light onto the topic of wedding expenses and how much every single detail from the reception, to the dress.

Why this event is relevant: Because people all around the world constantly wish to become married, but they never truly understand the level of expenses it all takes until they're confronted with it face to face.

Reaction: The prices for individual or for everything as a mass in a wedding was unbelievable. Jane Wells states that, "The average American wedding costs $31,213, which does not include the price of the honeymoon." 31,000+ is more than most of the average American makes in a year, completely devastating wallets.

Opinion: I think, in my opinion that the cost of a wedding is far over the cost of what it should actually be. To me it would make sense for the ring to have such eye gouging prices, but as for the dress and other ceremonial items, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Connection: Believe it or not, I was actually in the midst of a discussion with my Mother about me getting married far down in the line of my future when I scrolled past this article.

Article Date: Thu October 8, 2015

Who: Involves Barack Obama and GOP candidates

    Where: Montgomery County Hispanic Gala

    When: Thu October 8, 2015

What happened: Barack Obama comes down on GOP candidates. All regarding the "anti-immigrat sentiment" in specific he targets Donald Trump. Specifically because he wants to build a wall between America and Mexico. Barack Obama tells him no no no. Americas greatness doesn't come from building walls it comes from creating opportunity.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because one it shows Donald Trump in a different light. Two it shows are current president speaking up for what believes in and he makes some very strong points by doing so.

Reaction: My feel ins are neutral just very pleased by the Obama handled things.

Opinion: I think that Obama is right creating a wall and keeping immigrants out kind of defeats the whole purpose of America.

Connection: I chose this article because it involves Trump. It's kind of fun reading things about him because you soon realize that if something is involving him its either really good or really bad.

Where: This article is located in the U.S.
    When:This event occurred in 2015
What happened: What happened what that after a 40 years ban on oil exports, President Obama and Congress want to block the bill that would end the ban in order to help the economy and strengthen national security.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because I read in the article that the republicans are not liking the way Obama is running things. They feel as though that continuing the ban makes no sense and also and not surprised by this thought. They do not agree with his thoughts, but this isn't the first time someone disagreed with Obama.
Reaction I feel as though that if the republicans don't like how Obama does things his way, they should start taking action and do something about it.
Opinion I think that this article is very important. It is important because 40 years is a long time to hold a ban and maybe president Obama felt that things should be kept the same. I think he doesn't want to change things because it would hurt our economy rather than strengthen it.
Connection I chose this article because Obama will not be President for any much longer so I wanted to see what major decisions he would make before he leaves office.

Opinion.I think Donald Trump was wrong for what he did.He shouldnt have said that about the latin community. He got what he deserved.

    Article Date: October 8th, 2015

    Who: The Russian Government

    Where: NW Syria

    When: October 8th, 2015

What happened: The Russian Government chose to bomb northern Syria to target IS extremists. They were also trying to aim for Assad extremists also.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because Russian is trying to assert themselves as a central and powerful force. Russia does not have a good relationship with the US. The US is one of the main countries fighting against ISIS and other extremists in the middle east. This means that Russia is not only trying to outshow the US, but they are trying to assert themselves.

Reaction: My reaction is dissapointed and confused. I do not know much about warfare, but it does not make sense for more and more countries to get involved in these fights claiming thousands of lives in the middle east. I am just afraid full on war will break out.

Opinion: I honestly believe that war is eminent and all of this hate and fighting is unnecessary. There are too many people on this planet for war. If war were to happen. Millions upon millions will die on all sides with nothing gained out of it.

Reaction: I was suprised to see such a news on the washington post, I never would have figured that congress would do such a thing to help wildlife conservation, but then again there's Theaodor Roosevelt.

The watchful U.S. and North Korea are involved in this article.
This event is taking place off the eastern coast of the sea. This event is currently taking place.
The U.S. is on alert of North Korea firing a medium-range ballistic missile. The U.S. is saying it may be part of the the regimine's power "usual provocative efforts." Earlier in the year a photo of Kim Jong Un the North Korean leader was standing in front of a submarine in the sea firing a missle. U.S. experts say there are noactual proof of anything being fired.
This is important because the wrong country may have weapons that could harm other countries. I feel a little leery about North Korea firing missiles. They may get out of control and make a mistake and attacking a ship or another small country, etc. I think that the U.S. should remain on high alert. I could relate to this article. I am attracted by this article. This is popular Internationally.

GOP candidates: Gun laws won't stop 'crazies'
    October 2, 2015
Republican candidates believe that changing gun laws will do nothing in the efforts of stopping mass shootings and other unlawful gun related murders. On friday (10/02/15) several candidates on several different interviews expressed how they feel on changing gun laws. Mike Huckabee said "I keep waiting for someone to tell me what new gun law can we past that would have prevented this shooting or Sandy Hook or Aurora or Charleston,". Another quote said by Ben Carson "Gun control only works for normal law abiding citizens. It doesn't work for crazies,”. There were many other things said by our republican candidates on the matter. All referring back to the point that gun laws aren’t the problem, the problem is people, mentally ill people to be specific. This is relevant because most of the republican candidates feel the same about gun laws. And their opinion and plans for it does not benefit the nation’s efforts in stopping issues that are gun related. I feel they are all being ignorant and are looking out for themselves (Trump) when it comes to guns and how they affect the american people. I think they all need to have a better plan in stopping issues like gun-trafficking, mass murders, illegal purchase of guns, etc. I chose this article because it reminded me of the last article I wrote about. It was on Donald Trump and him feeling that making gun laws more stern wouldn’t have stopped the mass shooting at college campus in Oregon, that if the teachers were armed it could have prevented it. It seems that most of his fellow opponents agree. This upsets me so much.

Article Title:should the U.S. Allow gambling on elections?
    Article Date:October 11, 2015
Jimmy Vaccaro, the bookmaker of the South Point Casino. The location of his casino is Las Vegas Nevada. He has promped that he would like to hold the bets on election day. Law makers in Nevada rejected the proposal last year. CNN has opened a point gambling game on their website. This is relevant because it is a new story tat relates to restrictions from the government on gambling. My reaction is not surprised at all and understanding on the government's behave for that wouldn't be necessarily wise.I think if they did start allowing betting on the elections, the vote tally thing could get rigged. I chose this article because I like to gamble and I'm interested in the government's reaction.
