ReplyDeleteArticle Title: Pope Francis, in Congress, Pleads for Unity on World Woes
Article Date: September 24, 2015
Who: Pope Francis
Where: Washington
When: September 24, 2015
What happened: The pope wants congress to let the world have unity and peace. He feels as though everyone should be together and not just think of themselves but as the world in a whole.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because as of right now the world is just so split up weather its blacks, whites, Mexicans, and Asians. So much is going on between these races and their isn't much peace going on. There is so much violence and its just causing more tension between the world and have everyone against each other instead of together.
Reaction My attitude towards this is I understand the pope because he talks about how deadly weapons are for sell to use for more violence. What people fail to realize that this is just causing more violence to the world and isn't making anything better its actually making this worse. Lets just think about something if we kill someone from another don't you think that they'll just want revenge and just want to kill us its just going to be a repeating cycle and that's not good either.
Opinion I think that everything that the pope says is right we just aren't making the world a better place were making things worse. Were supposed to be trying to make peace but were starting wars little do we know. We shouldn't start violence in the world our main goal and priority should be making our world a better place for the next generations to come after us.
Connection I chose this article because I feel like it couldn't be a better time for the pope to come and talk about this. Our world needs to have peace with another and as big as the pope is he could help us with that and make the world right and have peace.

ReplyDeleteArticle Title: Pope to meet with Obama at White House on historic US event
ReplyDeleteArticle Date: September 15, 2015
Who: Pope Francis & President Obama
Where: Washington D.C.
When: 2 days ago, September 23 2015
What happened: Pope Francis and President Obama make history. Pope Francis comes and talks about his political views to President Obama and his colleagues.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because it happened to days ago. Also because this has never been done in history.
Reaction: I feel as though that this an amazing accomplishment and event. Never have we seen the pope in our city.
Opinion: I think that this is the biggest thing to happen in history. This is a great example of leaders of different background coming together to make history. Instead of disconnecting from each other there connecting. Even though they have different views on gay marriage and abortion, they put those aside for something bigger.
Connection: I chose this article be of its relevancy and the people involved. I also chose it because it is a great thing to see that political and religious leaders can come together.

Article:Pope delivers political message on immigration, tolerance to congress
Article date:September 25,2015
Where:Washington D.C
When:In September 2015
Who was involved:Pope and people in congress
What happened: It was the first time the Pope confronted congress about undocumented immigrants. Also he tell Congress they should join a global campaign against climate change and poverty. The Pope came to the U.S to eat and pray over the homeless. The Pope will partake in the World meeting families to pray over Families.
Why is this relevant: This is important because the Pope is right about America treating immigrants differently because everyone really is an immigrant because no one originated from the U.S.It's also important because this caused Philadelphia to become hectic because everyone had to find ways to get around downtown. It's good because the homeless will be feed by the Pope and prayed over so hopefully it will help end homelessness and hunger.
Reaction:My reaction to this story is it's a good idea to make changes in the United States because we really need change throughout our government.
Opinion: My opinion to this is I like the fact the Pope is feeding the homeless but that don't really help homelessness because the homeless still won't have a roof over their heads they'll still be laying outside.
Connection: My connection is I we do need change in government just like sometimes people need a better change within their selves but the state need a change for everyone.

ReplyDeleteArticle Title:Pope Francis invokes MLK in nod to racial tensions
Article Date:Thursday September 24,2015
Who:Pope Francis
Where:Washington in the U.S Capitol
When:Thursday, September 24, 2015
What happened:Pope Francis quoted Martin Luther King Jr. in both of his speeches. The pope is paying attention to racial tensions in the nation and hoping to be a calming influence, experts say. In his speech he talk about the importance of being "gracious to refugees and immigrants, speaking broadly about acceptance of others." Pope Francis also talked about how it's important to educate new generations not to turn their back on each other. The pope also brought up Martin Luther King Jr. as part of his call to address climate change. Wilton Gregory said it would have been surprising to him. The Pope not talked about racial tensions, a subject that has gripped the nation with protests since the fatal police shooting of an unarmed 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri, last year.
Why this event is relevant: This is a sign that the Pope is well aware of the increased racial tension in the United States.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes): I glad that the Pope is making a note of racial tension because it's something that have gotten better but then have gotten worst all over again with white police officers killing African Americans.
Opinion (I think..) That Pope Francis have to do more than just talk about the problems. I think he and the rest of the nation need to do more hands on things to decrease racial tension.
Connection (why you chose this article)I chosen this article because the title stood out to me. Also because , I think this topic need to be known about, but mostly I want a change in racial tension in the nation.
