Article Title: Oklahoma State Homecoming shattered, as car kills 4 spectators, including 2-year-old This article was published on October 25th, and this is a national topic. This article involves witnesses attending the event at the time of the incident and family of the suspect. This incident took place in Stillwater, Oklahoma at a homecoming parade on Saturday, October 24th, 2015. At this homecoming parade family, friends, and kids came out on the streets to enjoy theirselves before the days big football game, in the mist of people attempting to do that a car plowed through the parade going at least 40 mph. Crashing into people, including kids with no intention on stopping. Three people died at the scene and a 2 year old boy died once he got to the hospital due to severe injuries. Other people, including nine victims listed at 10 years old and younger were injured. Witnesses at the scene were traumatized and devastated at the tragedy they witnessed with their own eyes. The suspect was taken into custody while her father claims this is not the kind of person his daughter is. This event is relevant because this is another killing that has occurred whether it was intentional or not this person killed and injured people. This is a very sad event and there is no excuse for what took place on October 24th, 2015. Kids that haven't even figured out life yet were killed and injured and that makes me furious. I think this person should be in prison for life and there should be no leniency promoted on her for being a careless driver. I chose this article because this event is recent and very devastating.

Malia Obama’s College Pick: Ivies, Liberal Arts or Public University?
Malia Obama, the president's’ daughter is a senior at Sidwell friends school in Washington. She will soon be facing the pressure of choosing a college. She is currently leaning towards Ivy leagues, liberal arts or one of the top public universities. She has visited 6 of the 8 Ivy league schools. Michelle and Barack have stayed back while she visited the schools. Her dad does not want to influence her decision. Although not wanting to influence her decision he still tells her, “Just because it's some name-brand famous, fancy school doesn't mean that you are not going to get a good education”.
This event is relevant because she is the President’s daughter. I agree that soon she will be facing the pressure because she will need to get college recommendations, make sure her grades are good , make sure she has extra curriculum activities and start to write college essays. Also she will have pressure because of who she is. I can relate to this pressure because i will also soon be applying to colleges.

He says it's like slavery because the slave owners got to do whatever they wanted to the slave which is like a woman getting an abortion.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because Ben Carson is running for president and if he thinks this way, many people may not want to vote for him. If he does win, many people may be unhappy with his opinions which could cause major issues.

Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes): When I first saw the headline, I thought it was ridiculous because what he said does not make sense to me at all.

Opinion (I think..): I think that Ben Carson is absolutely way out of line for saying this because if a woman or young girl is raped or in any situation like that, she should be able to make the decision that is best for her and the baby without being criticized for it.

Connection (why you chose this article): I chose this article because I thought it was such an outrageous comment to make. As soon as I saw the headline, I knew that I wanted to express my opinion on it.

    http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/23/gov-lincoln-chafee-withdraws-from-2016-democratic-presidential-race.html

Book with this article was published on October 23, 2015. The person that was involved was Lincoln Chafee. The article doesn't quite say where it took place but it says it was located at the woman's leadership forum conference. This Event took place on October 13th 2015. During this article it's talks about how Lincoln is trying to advocate peace in his campaign, but he's not receiving the support that he needs. The other candidates are also not showing interest. Therefore he has dropped out. This is relevant because someone is trying so hard to make a serious change and now it is more than likely not happening because he has dropped out a no other candidate is trying to do the same. I was honestly shocked to find out that he has dropped out because he could've seriously made a change. I feel as though they he should have stayed strong and kept pushing forward. But in the end he did what he felt was best. I chose this article because I never heard of someone dropping out of an election. So I wanted to find out exactly why.

Opinion (I think..) That the officer should get suspended from the department for 3 months to learn his lesson that, that's not the proper way to handle the problem.
Connection (why you chose this article) I choose this article cause i have a connection to these kind of stories .

    Who: Ben Carson

    Where: NBC's "Meet the press"

    When: Sunday's interview

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because, Ben Carson is a candidate for presidency from the Republican party. Also, if Ben Carson wins the election this could be a future law he passes.

Reaction: After reading this article i was shocked at some of the comparisons Ben Carson chose to make

Opinion: In my opinion, abortion is something a person should have the right to do.
I feel as though why bring an unwanted child in to this world. They didn't ask to be here. I also feel that you shouldn't have to put a child through struggle.

Connection: I felt a personal connection because, I know someone who was raped and they got pregnant. I am pretty sure that they wouldn't be on the path they are on today if they were forced to keep a child under those circumstances.

    Article Date: October 26, 2015
    Who: Joe Biden and CBS
    Where: White House
    When: October 26, 2015
What happened: Joe Biden dropped out of running for president because he thought he couldn't win. He thinks that if he did run he would be a better president than anyone else. However, he still thinks that Hillary Clinton would be a better president than the republicans and Democrats who is running. He says that if he would have ran he wouldn't try to stop her.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because it is talking about the vice president and what is happening. Also it is relevant because Joe Biden was originally going to run be he backed down and it took every to surprise.
Reaction: My reaction to this is that I think he would have made a good president but I think that he needs to have more confidence in himself to think that he would win no matter what he has to go through.
Opinion: I think that he mad a good decision and a bad decision about dropping out. I think he made a good decision because being a president is a really big job and some people can't handle a big job like that.
Connection: I can connect to this because I had to make a big decision like he had to and it was really hard to decide on.

Thousands of Philly students still without permanent teachers

    Monday, October 19, 2015

Who: students, teachers, Philadelphia School District, Union President Jerry Jordan

    Philadelphia

    When: Monday, October, 19, 2015

Its the second month in the school year and thousands of schools are still out of permanent teachers. There are 190 vacancies the Philadelphia school district, but they said they will try to level the schools out; to maintain stability for the children. This event is relevant because its 11 unfilled teaching jobs at Northeast High School, and there is 1,815 students alone affected by it. Some students don't even have permanent teachers for four out of five major classes. When I first heard about this I felt bad for the students at N.E.H.S because, they are being deprived of their education. In my opinion I think the government should cut some expenses that's unnecessary, to go towards money for permanent teachers. I chose this article because Ms. Rachael offered it to us, and I couldn't find no other article. I found this article interesting because it talks about Philadelphia schools that are close to me.

Ben Carson, can you do math? John Kasich, will you insult two people over here? Marco Rubio, why don’t you resign? Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen? It was a signature moment for him, one that instantly elevated his profile. But it was no surprise.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because it's one of the biggest debates ever. Because the U.S. is trying to find the best fit candidate that can become president.

Reaction: I actually laughed because it's funny how he flipped the script from himself and start to throw shots at everyone else. Then the insults were kinda funny on the low.

Opinion: I think he was stalling because he didn't have a answer for the moderator question.

Connection: I chose this article because I was watching some of this in class.
