Who: An actor named Ken Curtis

When:October 18
What happened: An actor fired real bullets at another actor, Ken Curtis, during an old western shoot. Ken ended up in the hospital, but is doing well.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because guns are becoming more problematic. However, the mayor and marshal made new rules for reenactments for more control.
Reaction: I was a bit surprised reading this article. One who acts shouldn't be getting hurt on set.
Opinion: I think that real guns shouldn't even be used on set. What's the point if you're acting? If anything there should be fake guns that look real, but with fake bullets.
Connection: I chose this article because I thought it would be interesting to read about an actor getting shot during a shoot. This was my first time even hearing of such a thing.

When: Beginning of school year 2015
What happened: Schools involved in the Philadelphia school district have yet to permanently hiring teachers for their students. Since the school year has started many students are being taught by substitutes that barely know the content that they're learning. The classrooms are overcrowded which also makes it hard for the students to learn with the teachers that they do have. The parents are not happy about the status of their children's stability and learning environment which is causing tension in the school.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because I am currently a student in high school so I can relate to how the students might be feeling at the moment. Not having a stable learning environment can affect the way students feel about school altogether.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel empathy toward the students that are in this situation. I can only imagine how it must leaving school without any new knowledge.
Opinion (I think..) I think the city of Philadelphia should do a better job of funding these schools. They also should make it their mission to hiring more teachers so that not only the students can have a better education but also give people their jobs back.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it made me think about if I was in the same situation as the student's are how I would feel.

When: July- October 2015
What happened: As bills are still coming in the school districts have yet to receive money from the state. They have not received any money since July 2015. Which is really hitting the low beget schools hard. Almost $350 million were borrowed just to keep the doors open of schools in a lot of states.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because some schools have to close down for good. That means all the students would have to find new school and schools will then become over populated. No parent would want their child in a classroom wit 40-50 kids per class. The more students the less a teacher can give each child the undivided attention they need .
Reaction: I am scared because if the government don't pass the budget cut then schools will start to shut down including mine. That will lead to me going to another school which most likely it won't be a chart school. Not only that but majority of the people who worked with the school district will be out of jobs. That will only make the unemployment rate increase. So the government would still be losing money.
Opinion: I think think is not fair because people pay taxes so instead of using so much money on prisons & Juvenal detention centers they should put more money into schools.
Connection: I chose this article because If we didn't have certain people at my school who saved money for a situation like this we would probably have to close down for a week or two like other schools. This is s huge problem because the school that I go to gives a lot of work and is very stern when it comes down to education. So missing school would be set back. We would have so much work to do when we come back. Which means they would have to cut breaks shorter just so we can try to catch up which is not fair.

What happened: President Obama told law enforcement officials Thursday that the Black Lives Matter movement has highlighted a point too long ignored There is a specific problem that is happening in the African-American community that is not happening in other communities and that is a legitimate issue that we've got to address.
Why this event is relevant : This event is relevant because this is about ethnicity i am in and it matters to me just as it do to anybody else .
Reaction : My feelings towards this is very concerned because black lives really do matter and we should have equal rights as every one else .
Opinion : I think that black lives do matter because we are a ethnicity group just like anyone else so we should be treated like everybody else not different .
Connection : I choose this article because i can relate or compare my self as if i am in this problem or just want equal rights as everybody else .

What happen- At 7;30 am today 42 people were killed in a terrible bus crash today. Majority of the France were elderly people that was caught in are because of e car crash. There were five people injured and 3 people were safe.
Why is this relevant.- This problem is revelent because elderly people are dying because of careless driving .
Reaction- I feel like the person that was driving could of not be so careless. But could of drove slower to keep its citizens safe.
Opinion- I think drivers should keep there people safe. your driving for the city Sooner or later people are going to stop riding the public buses. And then the government might be mad because the citizens might feel safe.
Connection - This remind me of the US cities busses. Being safe is the best thing to be for are American citizens.I seen a public bus crash before and it was very ugly.

What happened: Lincoln Chafee dropped out of the presidential election. Chafee's reason for leaving is unknown. Although it is believed that he'd given up on himself.
Why this event is relevant: This may change the course of the 2016 presidential campaign especially on the democratic side.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) : I believe he gave up because he didn't believe he could beat Hillary Clinton. Many peopl already did not believe in him due to the fact he wasn't a steady politician.
Opinion (I think..) : I think this gives Clinton a better chance of winning.

Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because it is 2015 and they came to America for a better life not to be treated unfairly or to not be assisted to help get on there feet.
Reaction: I feel as though that the government is wrong. I feel this way because the government has money and they are not trying to help people who are trying to start a new life for them and their children. I feel as though the government should help these people because if it was the other way around the government would want help to start their new life.
Opinion: I honestly think that the government is out of pocket for not trying to help the immigrants get on their feet. I think that they should at least help a little bit.
Connection: I chose this article because I strongly believe that everyone from Philadelphia or not is entitled to equal rights and benefits.

Reaction : My feelings towards this is that there need to be some type of justice to this situation it been happening since 2014

What Happened: U.S troops are sent to Syria for the first time to rebel forces so Isis won't increase their troops. Also 50 U.S troops are sent to Kurdish to make sure that their territory is under controlled.
Why is this relevant: This is relevant because Isis is increasing their number all alover the world here today . People that live in your city are in Isis you just don't k what now it because they look like regular people. .
Reaction: This isn't good because Isis is a very strong group in our society. People are joining because they are scared that if you're not in this group they're coming for you next time. And this isn't a good thing at all. They are destroying everything they can get their hands on. So the U.S need to think of something with all this new technology equipment
Opinion: I honestly thank god for the Military because they make sure us citizens are safe in our country. We really don't know how hard it might be for somebody that know they might lose there life for this country.
Connection: I can make a connection to this because Isis is always on tv for what they are about to do and is doing right now. So I hope the U . S can take down Isis and keep saving us citizens from destruction that we are about to see on national television . But once again the Thank god for a president and military lord knows without them two what would this world be like.
