Article Title: U.S. forces strike in Libya, Somalia, capture al Qaeda operative

    Article Date: October 6, 2013

Who: U.S. military, Abu Anas al Libi, U.S. Navy Seals

    Where: Libya, Somalia

    When: October 4, 2013

What happened: Around 6:30 in the morning on Friday night, al Libi was coming home from prayer when he was captured by a group of men. The men who captured him were from the U.S. military.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because al Libi was one of many who bombed the two of the U.S. embassies in 1998. Al Libi was apart of a group called al Qaeda.

Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel as though he should have got captured because he was dangerous. He should not have still been walking the streets.

Opinion (I think..) I think the U.S. military should try to capture the rest of al Qaeda. They should also make al Libi suffer for what he did.

Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it was interesting. I also thought I should know about this.

    > Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) this isn't fair why didn't they just give him a warning and tell him don't let it happen again they had to fire him.
    > Opinion (I think...) they should just give him his job back and call it a day tell him shiny let it happen again.
    > Connection (why you chose this article) I don't have a connection to this I don't know any body that got demoted everyone has just gotten fired.

Article Title:Germany hands control of military base in northern Afghanistan to local security forces
    Article Date:October 6, 2013
    Who:Germany, Afghanistan, Local security forces
    Where:Northern Afghanistan
    When:In the coming years.
What happened: To summarize, Germany decides to hand over a key military base in Afghanistan as part of the gradual departure of Western forces. This base is significant to many of the Germans because of the 35 combat deaths that occurred in Afghanistan. A lot of this goes back to the many civilians who died or were injured in an airstrike provoked by German forces.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant to Germany because it is a very significant base for the Germans.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I think that they have made a big decision and I honestly think that this move will make an important impact, whether it is good or bad.
Opinion (I think..) I think that this is the one article that I have read so far that has not put the United States at risk of something and has not put the U.S in a negative situation for that matter.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because like I said it is simply informing the reader of what is happening with that important base in Afghanistan but not putting the U.S in a difficult position like every other article.

Article Title:Ex-Detroit mayor sentenced to 28 years in prison for corruption
    Article Date:Published October 10, 2013
    Who: Ex-Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick
    Where: Detroit
    When: Thursday
What happened: Kwane Kilpatrick spent $800,000 more than he made. He used his city credit card for trips to Las Vegas, bought concert tickets and football tickets along with a $850.00 steak dinner. He bought two Lincoln Navigators for his wife with public money. Instead of just the 28-year sentence, Kilpatrick will have to pay back all of the money he used.
Why this event is relevant: this event is relevant because it shows what people can do when they are in power with money. This shows what people can do if they have power with money because he was the mayor and he was holding money but instead of him using it for the city he used it for himself.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I didn't really have feeling towards this but it's not surprising that he did this because when people see money they want it.
Opinion (I think..) I think something like this will happen in Philly. I think this because Philly isn't improving and people will realize that they are wasting money on a place that isn't getting better so they will take the money back or use it for themselves
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because something like this was happening in my old school. Our dean was taking some money from the school's funds and using it for him, his wife, and 3 kids.

Article Title: The Federal Government shuts down: so what?
Article Date: This article was posted on, Thursday's Editorial — Posted on October 3, 2013
Who: The people involved in this shenanigan are the State and local government.
Where: this is currently observed or happening in Washington DC.
When:This event is happening right now and won't stop happening for a while.
What happened: The state and local government shut down. Apparently it somewhat has something to do with this unexpected twist. In the 1930s he fought the attempted nationalization of the nascent electric utility industry by the federal government.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant to me because this government is one of the worse things we let take over. It's about time something different happens.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) my reaction to this before was surprised and shocked but now it all makes sense
Opinion (I think..) I think the federal govt. Will continue to be an ongoing thing until stated otherwise.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because there are a lot of psychotic things happening in this country. And if we don't know about them how are we supposed to stead clear.
