  1. 1. Who is the article about? Supreme Court and Criminal suspects in Massachusetts and California (David Riley,Brima Wurie)

    2. Where did the event happen? California and M.A.

    3. When did the event happen? 2007 & 2009

    4. What is the article about? This article was about how a Supreme Court debated over whether police need a warrant to be able to search a cellphone if a person is under arrest. A man named David was arrested in 09' and police impounded his car and found loaded weapons under the hood. In a different case, a man named Brima was arrested for selling crack cocaine. Police went through his phone to find out his real home address after he gave them a false one. After they had a search warrant, they searched his home and found guns, drugs and ammo. He was jailed. Even though both attorneys argued fourth amendment violation, California officials say that it is no different then searching a wallet if they have probable cause or the initial search of a criminal. In the end, President Obama says he will try to change the way the police get phone records but says that this is a good thing as well in order to stop future terror plots against the US.

    5. What is your opinion of this article? I think that it isn't fair to violate somebody's Fourth Amendment rights in any case. Unless there is a warrant present.

    6. How does this article relate to something you learned in Civics? We learned that the police can not violate your Fourth Amendment rights with out a warrant. Any evidence found without one is thrown out.

    5. What is your opinion?
I think that Bill Clinton didn't have it that bad. He still had something unfair done to him though. What happened was he had many choices on his first chance to name a Supreme Court Justice, but not enough on the second chance.

6.How does this article relate to something you learned in civics?
This relates to seventh amendment, Which we learned in civics class. He relates to the seventh amendment because bill Clinton did have his right to a trial to say what he needed to say to get his point across. Also we learned about legacy in civics also.

  4. 1.The Supreme Court cases that regard police searching someone they arrested cellphone for evidence.
2.Most of the cases that involved this problem happened in Washington D.C.
3.The article I read was posted on the 14th of January in 2014.
4.This article was mainly about a back and fourth thing of making police have a warrant to search cellphones of the people they arrest. This argument is going on because their been situations where if the cellular device was not searched then the person would be let out of jail. Their is a strong case that police need to get warrants because that is someones personal business in their phone.
5.My opinion on the article is that I agree with the plan to have police get warrants when they arrest someone and wants to get evidence from their phone.
    6. The article I read relates to civics class because it would go back to what we recently learned that the police would have to take a process of going to the judge to issue a warrant.

  5. 1. This article involves the first lady, Hillary Clinton.

    2. This event occurred in the White House and the Supreme Court.

    3. This event occurred on Mon February 17, 2014.

    4. There has been documents about Bill Clinton's most important moments during his presidency. Blair, a close friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton, has been taking notes on their conversations while they was in the White House. Bill Clinton did not want to choose Blair to be a justice in the Supreme court but had too because of the lack of choices.

    5. I think this article shows how Bill Clinton chose the supreme court justices while he was president.

    6. This article relates to Civics class because it show how the separation of powers gave the president the power to choose a justice, but keep him from influencing the judicial branch.

    This event happened in Utah.

    3. When did the event happen?
This event happened in June of 2013

    4. What is the article about? (MINIMUM 3 SENTENCES)
This article is about how the Supreme Court ruled on the state of Utah not having same-sex marriage. The Supreme Court made it's ruling in June of 2013 and the issue of gay marriage has continued to reappear. Two decisions were made about why gay marriage has not been granted one decision struck down the part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act that denied federal benefits to same-sex couples in states that allowed such unions. The other declined to say whether the Constitution required states to allow such marriages in the first place.

    5. What is your opinion of this article?
My opinion of this article is that people should be able to marry whom ever they chose same sex or not.

    6. How does this article relate to something you learned in Civics?
This relates to things we learned in Civics because in class we learned how many other Supreme Court cases found many things unconstitutional just like same-sex marriage in Utah.

It is about Nevada and supreme court.

Where did the event happen ?
It happened in the state of Nevada

    When did the event happen?
    It happened in 2012.

What is the article about ?
The article is about Nevada wanting to stop defending the same sex marriage , but the us supreme court want to recognize gay marriage. Nevada came up with an decision that gay marriages would be banned , but about eight same sex couples filed a case so that it could be legal where they live at. the general's decisions was to ban gay marriage too.

What is your opinion of this article?
My opinion is I think that its wrong because if it was the other way around they would want this to be legal so that is they were gay and got married they would want it to be legal.

This relates to civics because what we are learning now like is the system being fair of not and I think that they are not being fair with their decisions. These people just want to be happy and free.

This relates to the things we learned in civics about having the right to be silent if you think you will say something incriminating it relates because of how many times the man plead the 5th which was 30.

  9. Who is the article about?

This article is about a Supreme Court case that will examine the privacy of people arrested on wither or not police can search and seize electronics with or without a warrant.

    2. Where did the event happen? This event occurred in Massachusetts and California but is a problem across the United States.

    3. When did the event happen? This Supreme Court case started January 21, 2014 but events involved in this article have been dated back to 2007.

    4. What is the article about? This article tells about the supreme court decision to be able to search criminals personal electronics devices without a warrant It tells in similar cases dating back to 2007 where police have searched suspected criminals electronics without warrants and have found things that have convicted them of crimes. The fight against this is that this is unconstitutional and against the suspects amendment rights. The supreme court are coming to a decision wither this is right or wrong.

    5. What is your opinion of this article? My opinion of this article is that I believe that a police officer should have a warrant to search your things because of privacy. Just like a police officer wouldn’t want anyone to search his or her things they should respect the suspect until they are proven guilty of a crime.

    6. How does this article relate to something you learned in Civics? This article relates to civics because it talks about your amendment rights and what the police have the power to do based on these amendments in to constitution.

  10. 1. Who is the article about?
This Supreme Court case involves police having a warrant to search and take a person cellar device for evidence.

    2. Where did the event happen?
This event took place in Washington

    3. When did the event happen? This event was posted on Friday January 17, 2014 at 4:50pm

    4. What is the article about?
This article is about police having the right/ Permission to search a cellphone for evidence for a case. In the court system is has been situations were police officers take a persons cellphone into searching without an warrant for the cellphone. They use two case in this Article to refer to in California and Massachusetts.

    5. What is your opinion of this article? I do not agree with this law at all. I do not think that they should warrants to check a persons personally business. Sometimes they have a warrant to check your house not your cellphone. In many people cellphones are filled with important information and special events and a lot of memories. Thus I don't agree for a cop or anyone to go in someone's personal mailbox (cellphone)

    6. How does this article relate to something you learned in Civics? This article related to what we are learning in civics class because we are now discussing court laws and the different things you can and can not do that might violate people or the law. I feel that checking phones totally violets the 4th amendment "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

  11. 1. This article is about how people commit libel. It focuses on the Supreme Court case New York Times Co. v. Sullivan. Basically, it was significant because of the it expresses modern freedom of the press.
    2. This event , or rather court hearing was present in New York.

    3. This event happened 50 years prior to today. It was marking it's 50th anniversary.

    4. This artcle mentions several people with big focus of MLK. He surrounds his impact on the Civil Rights movement. Libel was committed towards him, meaning false facts to hurt his reputation on paper. Such as lying about how many arrest he actually had.

    5. I think it's wrong to be frauding on people, you need to state facts. One lie only leads to another. In the long run you hurting someone else's reputation to make you look good or get money, that's weak habbits.

    6. This article relates to something in civics because it's first off black history month, and we was learning about the civil rights movement and how libel and slander played a part. Also, the big Supreme Court cases that taken place during that movement.

  12. Topic: Supreme Court

    1. This article involves politicians, women, and medical majors.

    2. It took place in the states Arizona and Washington.

    3. This event happened early April 2012.

    4. This article is about Arizona trying to decrease(or even ban) the amount of weeks a woman is allowed to get an abortion. Politicians and medical majors believe the fetus can feel pain after 20 weeks and want it to live; however, people believe the choice is up to the woman(or fatal emergencies). Many filed suit for this and it ended up being decided by the Supreme Court. But, the Court refuses to listen to Arizona's laws/bans.

    5. Based on the article and being a female, I am quite disappointed. I believe abortion should be legal at all times but only during certain circumstances and at a fair price. Even though it is new life, I'd prefer my own. They do not understand the dangers of birth giving. But at the same time I believe those who had unprotected sex, shouldn't abuse the power of abortion either.

    6. This article relates to civics because it involves when the Supreme Court considers a case valid enough or when the Supreme Court believes the State's house should handle it on it's own. Also some politicians even argued whether or not the court should really judge a woman's life. One woman believe's that, "By no means the end of the abortion debate in this court.” That this is something that can be considered abusive or saving someone's life? It's a tough decision.

Same-sex marriages are being banned across 33 states.Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor requests from Utah to block same-sex marriages briefly.A lot of lawsuits test the fairness of bans on same sex marriages, having attorneys thinking that lawsuits were going to go back to the Supreme Court.

    5. What is your opinion of this article? There shouldn't be any bans on same-sex marriages.People keep trying to make same-sex marriages constitutional but it's like a dispute to no common ground.Love comes in mysterious ways like God and same-sex marriages should have been protected under an amendment.

    6. How does this article relate to something you learned in Civics? Civics discuss how our rights in the Constitution came about and how to use them well.It also refers to the Constitution to see if situations are constitutional.Same-sex marriages are what most people want these days and it should be protected under the 1st Amendment. It pertains to freedom of speech and speaking one's mind by getting married to the same gender is constitutional.

The right of the people to be secure against unreasonable searches shall not be violated and no warrants should be issued. That questions the fourth amendment

    5. What is your opinion of this article? I think police should need a warrant to search a phone because we have the rights to our personal privacy as long as it's not apart of a crime scene or case.
