  1. Article Title: Obama’s Twitter Debut, @POTUS, Attracts Hate-Filled Posts
    Article Date: May 21, 2015
The past monday President Obama created a new Twitter account. The Twitter page, @POTUS, is for the president to connect and reach out with people more and to inform and update the nation. His first tweet posted on Monday was met with hostility and racism however. Tweets asking Obama to kill himself and violent threats were sent to Obama. Although the tweets were numerous and disturbing these tweets didn’t outweigh all of the positive tweets sent to Obama.
I think that such hate in modern day America is ashame. This type of racism isn’t shocking to me however as we’ve been constantly reminded about the racism that exists in our country these past few years. This is different however because this is the president and I think the government should pursue those who send threats to teach a lesson. There should be some way to filter out these tweets. Also I wonder what would Obama change his “@” name to when his term is over and if the new president will adopt this name. I chose this article because it’s interesting seeing how politicians try to connect to the younger generation who use technology.
