  1. Title: Menendez claims innocence after indictment

Article Date: Wednesday April 1, 2015

In Washington, Senator Robert Menendez pledge not guilty for the charges of federal corruption.Menendez is currently on trial for using his legitimacy to help an conrad further his company. The Justice System has had a tough and dreary gauntlet with trying to put the N.J senate behind bars.Since this event has been put into spotlight, Robert has agreed to step down from his ties with the Foreign Relations Committee. Now he has become an advocate to help fight against corruption.
The shaky Senator today, however;has been indicted by a grand jury for federal extortion. From the years of 2010 through 2013, Robert has traveled variously to the Dominican Republic where his supporter Melgen lives.Menendez allegedly paid him 58,000 for the fight. The FBI has stated that if Robert turns himself in that there will be a deal. Unfortunately Menendez has not come through with that deal.

This article intrigued me and made me mad because this is yet another corruption in our system. How are we Americans supposed to support and trust are government when they are hiding heinous secrets? There has got to be in our government but not 10 years from now it needs to happen effectively and now. Till then we just have to pray and wish that we see a better day.

  2. The title of this article is “ Obama commutes sentences of 22 people in federal prison”.

This article was published on April 02,2015.

This article is about President Barack Obama keeping his promise to make the justice system more equal/fair. Obama researched a couple of old court cases of people who were sentenced long terms because of their nonviolent drug situations. There are new rules about drug violations. Therefore, Obama is keeping his word. These people were sentenced for dramatically long terms. Plus, releasing these people earlier then supposed to will lower the cost of prisons. They were convicted longer than people today are being put away.

My reaction towards this article was happy. My reaction was happy because I love to see my president success and keep his promises unlike past presidents. It feels my body with joy that my president is going good and people still find a way to hate on him, knowing their hate is very unnecessary. I think Obama made a very smart and fair decision to lower some people sentences because of the new rules and regulations. Those people should be very thankful that soon they can live free again!

  3. Article Title: What the thoughtless N.Y. government just did to teachers
    Article Date: April 3, 2015
Summary/reaction/opinion/connection: The legislature of New York has accepted allowance for education from the governor. Which many teachers are against because it makes evaluations bad. Carroll Burris talked about why it bad for all schools. In 2013, She was the best principal of the year. In 2010 a great educator. My reaction to this is if Carol Burris is talking about how the legislature is harming schools I believe her. In my Opinion she knows what she is talking about seeing how many awards she has in education. This relates to civics because it has to do with the New York government. That is how it relates.

  4. Article Title: Police Officer Gunned Down During Attempted Robbery Inside North Philly GameStop
Article Date: Updated at 8:10 AM EDT on Friday, Mar 6, 2015

    Summary :

On March 5, 2015 Officer Robert Wilson III Was killed at the GameStop on 22nd and Lehigh. The Officer went into GameStop to buy his son a game to reward him off good grades and his son birthday was coming up. While the Officer and other customers was in the GameStop two brothers came in and announced that it was a stick up not noticing that the uniformed officer was in there and the police car parked outside. The officer quickly approached them. The brother started shooting at him letting off rounds. The officer shot back and wounded one of the brothers but it wasn't enough to get them to stop. The officer kept shooting as he was getting hit by the bullets from the two guns that the brothers had. Another officer came in and when this happened one was arrested and taken to the hospital the other brother tried to blend in but was later pointed out. The fallen officer was rushed to the hospital and died.

My reaction to this was heart breaking because all the officer wanted to do was reward his child, and he couldn't do that because two idiots wanted to rob the place killing the officer. The officer leaves behind a wife and two kids, they will never get to see their father again. My opinion is that they deserve the death penalty they could have killed other customers that the officer was protecting, they did not care. Instead of robbing places they should get a job. How dare you take what somebody has worked for then kill someone who is trying to save people. I chose this because this officer didn't deserve this and now his kids life is messed up forever, he will never be there at a wedding , at a graduation or to see them go on prom that's heart breaking and I know how it feels to not have a father.
