  1. Article Title:Eligible Americans turn down Obama care tax credits
    Article Date:Jan,12,2015
This article consist of people no longer wanting Obama care because it helps lower class and middle class people. A lady stated she wanted to pay her own way. She is frustrated and mad and will go without health care as well as a man. They believe they do fine without health assurance and no longer want it so now people are trying to get rid of it. My reaction is that I'm mad why hurt the people who can not afford because some can pay for it. My opinion is that these people are selfish Obama has done nothing but help us with giving us Obama care these people should be fined for trying to get rid of it. I connect this to when this man i was talking to in a nursing home said "we didn't get free health insurance back then" so this is a man in like his 80's so its selfish that people don't take advantage of this but they want to get rid of it.

  2. Article title: NATO: Big Military build-up on Russia-Ukraine border
    Article date: April 23, 2015
NATO's chief has reported that there is a growing build-up of Russian soldiers along the Russia-Ukraine border and that Russia could strike with little warning. These soldiers are equipped with good weapons and equipment as well. Things are starting to heat up here.
I was really shocked by this article. Russia is an ally of the U.S...so why does the U.S. have to train Ukrainian soldiers to help fend off the Russians soon unexpected attack? It just doesn't make any sense. It makes sense that the U.S. is trying to aid another country with equipment and military training, but why must they go against an ally? This situation is crazy and will only get crazier.

  3. Title: Statement from family on death of Warren Weinstein

    Date: April 23, 2015

    Summary:
This article was about the thoughts of Warren Weinstein's family about his death. Warren Weinstein was an American humanitarian aid worker and he was abducted about three and a half years ago by Al Qaeda. The family planned on him to return home safely, but to hear the news of his death hurt them even more. The death of their beloved one still did not come clear to them as they do not fully understand what happened. The family believes that the life of their loved one could have still been here if it was not for the lack of the government trying to really get involved. Additionally, the family asked for privacy in their time of grief.

My reaction to this post was just shocked. Shocked because I know how it feels to lose a loved one and no one to understand how it feels. How can a man be held hostage for three and a half whole years ? That should not have even happened. The government need to do better than that; the fact that that man was not home within a couple months with a year being the max. They should have worked on trying to get him home to his family and maybe he would still be here. I originally chose this article because I did not know what else to pick and it seemed easy—when I actually took the time out to read the article, I knew I made the best choice.

  5. Article Title: White House to Request permission to fight ISIS.
    Article Date: February 6, 2015.

This event took place in the beginning of February. Isis a militant group that have attacked countries in the Middle East. President Obama retaliated by making the decision to send air troops to Syria and Iraq. He did it without the permission of Congress. Meaning troops will only be able to be deployed in these countries for a short period of time. His decision to fight against ISIS has caused a lot of casualties on both sides. Congress did not approve Obama's efforts to stop Isis. Obama hasn't given up on try to express his views on the situation. Obama wants to declare war on ISIS I think that this is really dangerous because ISIS will be ready for an attack and are continuously getting stronger each day. Isis even has people from all over the world who have come to the Middle East to join them and help support them.It will not be good for America to engage in a war against Isis. ISIS is going to continue creating mayhem unless something is done
I think that president shouldn't declare war on Isis because they are growing continuously and I don't think it would be worth it to risk the lives of Americans by creating war with a militant group. I'm not sure if it would be worth the risk. This made me think about the past presidents that declared war in foreign countries. The time and consideration it takes to ensure that minimal amounts of casualties will happen.

Article title: President praises pope for Cuba visit\
Article date: Wed April 22, 2015
Summary/reaction/opinion/connection: A summary of what happened in this article is that Obama is very much pleased and happy that Pope Francis is going to visit Cuba after the long disconnection between Cuba and the world. After the pope visits Cuba he will continue his journey to the US, visiting the nation’s capital, New York City, and Philadelphia. My reaction to this is that I am very pleased to see that at least part of the world is moving forward. Cuba has lost many connections in the world these past few years/decades. Im glad to see them finally coming along now and also working together with the US and the pope. My opinion on this is is that I honestly don’t care about the pope visiting Cuba because that doesn’t really have anything to do with me. The only concern I have is the traffic the pope is going to bring to Philadelphia when he visits. I might not even leave the house during the time he is here because the city will have so many tourist. The connection I can make with this article is when the The Big Four was created during World War 1. That was a really good alliance that was formed.

  8. Article Title: "For 7th year in a row, Obama breaks promise to acknowledge Armenian genocide"
    Article Date: April 24,2015

    Summary:
This week is the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. It just was a Turkish massacre of 1.5 million Turks.
Obama has broken his promise to use the word genocide. In the 2008 campaign he pledged to use the word genocide to describe what happened. He thought by pledging this he thought that he would be considered an honest and truthful candidate. This is affecting his presidency now.

My reaction to this is why not call it a genocide. Too many people died at the cost of someone else. Him being only a candidate he went into foreign policy to fast and should have not made a promise he can't keep. Even though the casualties were higher during Holocaust, that's still a large number of deaths. This eventually run off on the United States.
