Article Title:Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani girl shot by Taliban, under new death threat
    Article Date:Published October 07, 2013
    Who:Malala Yousafzai, The Taliban
    Where:Pakistan
When: Malala was shot in the head, on October 9,2012.
What happened:Malala was shot in her head and nearly killed a year ago, for speaking out on education rights in Pakistan for women.
Why this event is relevant:This event is relevant because Malala tried to speak up for education rights that she didn't have in Pakistan where she lived, and the Taliban didn't like it so they shot her in her head. Now Malala is under a new death threat... I guess because she survived the shot to her head.
Reaction: I feel as though it's not fair and Pakistan needs to get it together. It's like families are being made over there for nothing. If the children(girls) can't have educations why are they there or why were they even born in the first place... they're not going to be anything in life anyway.
Opinion:I think it's pointless for the Taliban to keep trying to kill Malala she didn't do anything to hurt anyone, she only wanted an EDUCATION.Like why are they still after her? In my opinion Malala is a teenage girl who wants to get ahead in her life and for all other teenage girls in Pakistan, and all over the world. Malala is an inspiration to me and I would like to meet her because if I was in her position I would've done the same thing as her. Malala said a really powerful speech when she was awarded the 2013 Peter.J.Gomes Humanitarian Award at Harvard University."I will be a politician in my future. I want to change the future of my country and I want to make education compulsory," she said. "I hope that a day will come [when] the people of Pakistan will be free, they will have their rights, there will be peace and every girl and every boy will be going to school." I think this is very powerful not only is she saying she will be but she will make everything she is doing worth it in the long run.
Connection: I chose this article because I think we should be talking about this in every school and the entire world to teach all kids who don't want to be in school or be a dropout a lesson that someone actually is fighting for rights to have an education.

Article Title:Shutdown Day 11: Congress in Session, No Decision Reached on Debt Ceiling Deal

    Artilce Date:Friday, October 11, 2013

    Who:Congress,the President

    Where:Washington,DC

    When:October 11, 2013

What Happened:During a press briefing in the morning.Speakers told reporters that in order for the House to raise the debt ceiling and it be for a good reason. They had to go to conference on the budget. The President would have to be willing to negotiate on reopening the government.

Why Is this Relevant:This is relevant because the government shutdown does not only affect the government, it affects the world to. Since they can not be able to get along some things are being cut an its not fair to other people. This has been going on long enough an its crazy that they can not work together. They should get along because they are apart of running the country.

Reaction:They are able to come to some type of agreement. It has been over a week an they still can't come up with anything. All of these meetings and stuff an nothing has come up. The congress and the President can get things running how they used to be.

Opinion:I think that this is a little stupid. I say this because they are grown men that can't come up with some type of agreement. I wonder how long this ig going to go on. I think that it should be ending shortly because of the meetings their having. I'm sure that sooner or later they can come together as one again.

Connection:I chose this article because this is all I hear about in the news. It also seemed interesting to me.

Article Title: Obama signs 'death gratuity' bill into law
    Article Date: October 10,2013
Who: President Obama, families of deceased soldiers, military families
    Where: N/A
    When: October 9,2013
What happened: President Obama signed into law, a bill that would give money back to the families of deceased soldiers during the government shutdown. The House of Congress passed this legislation on Wednesday, October 9,2013. The Senate approved it on Thursday, October 10,2013.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because the government has shutdown, but then again they are giving out money. They are helping families who lost family members in the military.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel as though the government should help those families out, but then again they need to help everyone out.
Opinion (I think..) I think the government and President Obama are being really helpful. I think they are doing right because slowly but surely the government will be operating again, but for the time being they are helping out.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it was interesting. At first, I thought this article was going to be about the death penalty or something. This article was not what I expected to read about, but it was interesting to read about.

Article Title:Shutdown Day 11: Congress in Session, No Decision Reached on Debt Ceiling Deal

Article Date: Friday October 11 2103
    Who:President Obama , House leaders
    Where:Washington DC
    When: Oct 11, 2013

What happened: Early this morning at the White House a meeting was being held to discuss the that if Obama wanted temporarily raise the debt ceiling and go to conference on the budget they would have to come to agreement on the reopening of the government. At meeting between Senate Democrats and President Obama, Leader Reid refused to give his opinion on the House's temporary debt ceiling offer. But, when asked by reporters if the Democrats were willing to negotiate before the government reopened his response was, "Not going to happen" ( Leader Reid ) . Lawmakers came to fully agreement to pass a consent bill funding military death benefits. The Senate has only approved one other stop-gap measure, which continues to pay military personnel through the shutdown.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because these cut backs in budgets can cause a lot in financial problems with families . Many people can lose you home , jobs and etc.

Reactions : I felt somewhat relieved that there coming to some understand but the response of leader Reid angered me .

Opinion I think that people in government act childish. Just b/c they didn't like Obama's health care plan they decided to shut down government what about the people who it's affecting . Such as my teacher Ms. Rachel's family which will affect me and many other kids and her family member . To be honest I think that they are trying everything to hinder him and his plans .

Connection : I choose this article because I feel some type of way about the government such down because the military risk their lives almost everyday to protect "their" country but they are quick to stop there source or income . But I guess their making some improves as shown above in my summary .

Article Title: Obama Signs Military death benefits bill
    Article Date: October 10, 2013 at 8:30 p.m
Who: President Barack Obama, and Senates
    Where: The White House
    When: October 10th
What Happened: President Obama signed into a law legislation that continues the funding to death benefits for military families. This issue became a problem because it had been cut during the government shut down. The senate final approve even though Obama has already been on board.
Why is this revelant: This article is revelant because it gives families that lost a love one finical support and helps them with their lost. Also, this is important for families to get support from the government.
Reaction: When I read this article I felt as though this is a very good thing that the government is doing because when families lose a love one it becomes hard for them to do things like pay bills and provide the other people on their family. Also, I think that families that have someone in the military already go through enough heartache as it is so the government should provide some type of ease.
Opinion: I think that the government should continue doing this and give families support.
Connection : I can connect this article because families around the nation go through a lot and when they lose someone it puts a lot of pressure on someone else to provide and get things done.
