Article Title: The Vets We Reject and Ignore
    Article Date: November 10, 2013
    Who: Veterans
    Where: United States
    When: November 10, 2013
What happened: In this article, it talks about veterans that served our country, but are getting rejected and discharged under "under conditions other than honorable”. Veterans are being discharged for minor misconduct. Just for that, they can't afford or are stripped of their health care, employment, housing and education benefits that was offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Also, because of veterans receiving bad paper, they are having a hard time leaving the military and such. According to the article, approx. 260,000 of 8.7 million veterans that served in the Vietnam War were discharged with bad paper. Also, between the years of 2006 and 2010. 76,165 soldiers were discharged by the military for having bad paper. Also, commanders are kicking out soldiers for this. Veterans are being placed in categories such as the nation’s chronically homeless or incarcerated populations. Though, there are programs about helping veterans get by from having bad paper. Also, the community should help each other, leave no comrade behind.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because veterans served the country by going out to war yet they're getting bad paper for minor offenses. Kind of remind me of that movie, "Born on the 4th of July".
Reaction: My reaction to this article is appalling because I can't see why veterans are being discharged after for what they did to help protect our country. Also, those homeless people I see could actually be veterans, if you really wanted to think about it.
Opinion: I think this bad paper thing is unfair to the veterans, besides, all this bad paper stuff is a bunch of bull if you ask me.
Connection: I chose this article out of curiosity and how it reminded me of one of Mr. Brian's movies in his U.S. history class.

Who: Egypt, American soldiers, Ansar Beit Maqdis (militant group)
Where: road to the Suez Canal City of Ismalia
    When: Last week
What happened: Basically, last week there is suspicion a militant group and now from the reading, it is clear that a militant group, calling themselves Ansar Beit al-Maqdis is purposely attacking American soldiers. Specifically last week, 2 soldiers were killed by a drive by and three were wounded. It discusses how a similar thing happened in the city of Ismailia, suspected to be committed by the same group.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because it is happening to our soldiers and can very much turn into a bigger dilemma.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) My attitude toward it is that I am very sad and at the same time worried because this can really escalate in a small period of time.
Opinion (I think..) I think that there needs to be more attention going into this matter because the article did not even mention how the soldiers nor the government is responding to this problem.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it really stuck out to me considering that I have family that are soldiers in the military and this is a horrible way for these people to die.

Article Title: New York court asked to safeguard journalists' right to protect sources

    Article Date: November 12, 2013

Who: journalists, New York court, attorneys

    Where: New York

    When: N/a

What happened: There was a court case demanding a reporter of Fox News to disclose where she received the information about the Colorado Massacre. Now, a reporter faces jail time for not choosing a plea to just give up the information. They are asking what would the outcome be if she was to go to Colorado and take the stand. Although, the journalist does have a right to to expose the information due to the Fist Amendment. No one (other journalists) opened their mouths about the case, they were all too nervous to because they didn't know what would come to be. There is a shield law that is protecting all the journalists from speaking to anyone and anyone that speaks to any journalist is violating orders.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because this is an act of violating people's rights.

Reaction: I am kind of on the edge and still in suspense because I want to know the outcome.

Opinion: I think this journalists are hiding something. With them being that sneaky, makes me wonder if they even had anything to do with it.

Connection: I chose this article because it was a highlight in my eyes. It seemed too good to be true and I wanted to know why they were questioning reporters.

Why this event is relevant: It deals with health care.
Reaction I don't care I have good health insurance and care and this doesn't impact me so i would pay it no mind.
Opinion I think this is good that he is fixing the plan cause of the cancellation of it this shows that he cares about his mistakes and it taking up ownership.
Connection:It was the first article i saw so i choose it and did this blog on it.

    1. This is relevant because it deals with health care and people need this for when there are injured and stuff and it pays for dental and all of that.
What happened was that Obama offered to give insurers a chance to keep there insurance for one more year. It also puts the onus of the renewals outside the president's control. Finally, not everyone who has received a cancellation notice, may be able to extend.

Article Title: Report: IRS refunded $4B to identity thieves
    Article Date: November 8, 2013
Who: Identity Thieves, US Citizens, Lithuania
    Where: The United States, Shanghai,
    When: The Years of 2012/2013
What Happened: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued $4 billion in fraudulent tax refunds last year to people using stolen identities. The IRS sent a total of 655 tax refunds to single address in Lithuania, and 343 refunds went to a lone address in Shanghai. In the U.S., more fraudulent returns went to Miami and other destinations such as Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and Houston. The IRS is now trying to fight identity theft, but these thefts are getting more aggressive.
Why Is This Relevant: This is relevant because identity theft continues to be a serious problem with devastating consequences for taxpayers and an enormous impact on tax administration. This deals with money being funded to the wrong people, which means billions of dollars being given away and also the victims having to face identify theft.
Reaction: I'm not surprised that somebody would do such a wrong thing. I'm pretty sure people have been doing these kind of scams for over the past several years.
Opinion: I think the world or the people in the world, are so focused on money nowadays that they do anything just to have money in their pockets. They basically put their lives at risk just so they can satisfy their greedy needs.
Connection: I chose this article because I know of a lot of scam artists in Philadelphia, and it reminded of how people really have such wrongful minds.

Article Title: President Skips Commemoration of 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg Address

    Article Date: November 14 2013

    Who: President Obama, President Lincoln

    Where: Pittsburgh

    When: November 19 2013

What happened: Obama did not honor the Lincoln. They gave no reason why Obama did not attend the celebration. People say Obama was bold to forget to honor Lincoln. It would be a bad problem for him to honor a bad time for our past. They been wanted to Obama speak on the problem for nearly year. He hasn't yet. Obama shows how he don't honor anybody who was in the White House before him. He will never show the true honor of history.

Why this event is relevant: This relevant because if you are a president should honor and celebrate everything in history that is important.

Reaction My reaction was surprising because I did not expect Obama to forget anything that happen in history. Our history important to remember especially if you in the White House.

Opinion I think Obama should of probably remember that it was a special day in history for him to celebrate that another president had made in history.

Connection I choose this article because I found it very interesting that a president forget a day in history.

Article Title: Boehner Predicts Obamacare Will ‘Never’ Work
    Article Date: Nov 13, 2013 1:11pm
Who: Republicans, ObamaCare, and John Boehner
    Where: Capitol Hill
When: November 13, 2013 at a news conference on Capitol Hill
What happened? John Boehner speaks on how he thinks ObamaCare will never work, and this subject is under the big title of “5 Signs Obama’s Term Is in Trouble.” Boehner was basically saying that this act will not be successful because it is all types of insurance policies in the US based on your income circumstances and Obama thinks he can just come up with a policy that makes it one size fit all. Also he said that it would be unaffordable because it’s the government taking control of the entire health care insurance market, basically the delivery market, it will never work.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because this debate will probably go on until Obama’s terms are approaching an end; this debate is one of the causes of the government shutdown, arguments within congress, all over trying to help families.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I disagree with Boehner, I think the bill will eventually work, but I agree with the part when he said its unaffordable, and its certain tweaks to the health insurance policy based on income but Obama can change some things.
Opinion (I think) I think if people stop being so difficult, and just let this bill ride out then maybe it will work and be successful because you never know until you try. I think if people stop going down Obama’s throat about just ending the bill, instead of telling him just change some things then it will work.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because I am completely down with Obama care I think everybody deserves to go to the doctors. Also I hate when smaller people go against a bigger person instead of just letting them do what they do, and if it’s wrong then they can always take it back.

Article Date: This article took place on November 14, 2013.
Who: This article involves Barack Obama and Insurance Companies.
Where: This event took place in New York and other states inside the United States.
When: It happens to take place within a number of days not just one because it is other states.
What happened: Barack Obama is now rethinking some of the plans he has made about the Healthcare situation. He is now saying that people are able to keep the Insurance they are currently on until further notices.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because it can affect the people that have Healthcare Insurance and the people that do not have free Healthcare.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) This is too major anything can happen. What if things get so bad that no one is able to get Healthcare at all, than what will we all do?
Opinion (I think..) I think citizens should pay close attention on what is going on. I think we should mainly pay attention to the people that are on different Healthcare insurances other than Obamacare.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because as I stated before we do need to pay close attention. Also because I have free Healthcare Insurance and I would be highly upset if I lose my insurance because of Obamacare. Why can’t Obamacare only apply to people that want it not that people that already have a HealthCare provider.

Article Title:House Republicans introduce resolution to impeach Attorney General Holder

Article Date: Published November 14, 2013

Who: This article involved a group of congressional Republicans and Attorney General Eric Holder.

    Where: U.S.A

    When: November 14, 2013

What happened: A group of congressional Republicans calls for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder. These Republicans accuse Holder of committing, “high crimes and misdemeanors” during his time as head of the Justice Department. Rep. Pete Olson, R-Texas gives an example of this when he says, “For nearly five years, Attorney General Holder has systematically deceived Congress and destroyed the credibility of the Justice Department in the eyes of the American people.” Unfortunately this whole story was just another common one about Republicans who just want to argue about something and it doesn't seem like anything is going to be done.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because, it is current and gives another example of Republicans crying over something stupid and wasting their time instead of focusing on bigger issues at hand.

Reaction My initial reaction was that this story might have been important, but after thinking about what this story was really about it seems stupid and a waste of time unless I am proven wrong and the Republicans take action.
Opinion I think all parts of our government think they need to stay relevant and seem to just to make up their own stories. Also I think they're accusing a man of doing all this criminal acts, which may be true, but have no evidence at least not enough to get this man impeached.

Connection I honestly just go to the politics section on fox news.com and just pick any article this one just looked the most interesting today. Also, I just find anything having to do with Republicans interesting I just like to see their point of view on certain issues.

    When: November 4, 2013
What happened: The port was taken over by Mexican troops. The port was taken over to strengthen the rule of law.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because they are trying to protect people. They are also trying to show a force of the government. This event is also relevant because a group is going against the police and killed 22 people.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel as though this might help the people in Mexico, but then again it might not.
Opinion (I think..) I think the military needs to try a little harder to strengthen the rules. I think if they were stricter then the group wouldn't go against them.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it was interesting. I chose this article because I thought the Mexican troops were really doing bad things to the port.

Article title: Al-Qaeda-linked rebels mistakenly behead fellow fighter, rebel group says
    Article date: November 14 2013
    Who: Al-Qaeda
    When: Earlier this week.
What happened: Al-Qaeda, an anti-government group strongly opposed to the westernized United States government, made a slight mistake at a "prosecution". In their group, they punish oppositions by, first videotaping a cruel beheading, usually done with chainsaws, then hold the head up and warn anyone from becoming an opposition and finally, the post the video online for all to see. The problem with this particular beheading is that they decapitated a fellow extremist, who is the commander, Muhammad Farce, by accident. After being posted online, other members recognize the beheaded as their missing superior. All involved have made a public apology since then and asked for forgiveness.
Relevance: This is relevant because it shows another side of the main enemy of the USA. It shows the incompetence and lawlessness of the elusive group who have killed so many Americans.
Reaction: Stupid stupid terrorism. Too unorganized to know that a fellow squad was missing. And too unlawful that they couldn't even double check to see what the man said was true.
My opinion: This is very good and should not stop. Although I hate the idea of death and murder, I think that if a murderer is killing another murdered, it is slightly justified.
Connection: I chose this article because it was spoken about on a YouTube daily news channel that I watch, and it sparked my interest.

    when: earlier this week
What happened: Obama and officials finally get to setup Obamacare website. Obama himself was convinced that the project would be a success. But in turnout it was a complete failure. Now raising the question of how could this be possible and the Why has the President been so into a plan that became a fluke.
Gloria Borger analyzes this as the red flag being everywhere and seen but that certain parts were only given to certain people. She believes that no one in the White House saw the complete layout. They only saw fragments of what was to come. Basically saying that there was no organization in the White House and that no one could foresee the major glitches in the website.
Reaction: This disgusts me that the White House is this unorganized. iot scares me that major faults like this go unnoticed by the President.

Reaction: My reaction to this was shocked and empathetic. I hope that people feel strongly about this and hope that they will help them repair the Philippines . I do wonder what the U.S is doing to help the them and how they should react.

Opinion: I think that the U.S should definitely help and make sure that they are okay. My opinion to this is that everybody should help and other countries can form allies to get people on their side.

Connection: My connection to this is Hurricane Katrina because of how powerful Katrina was and how it made people feel about it. The death toll was bad just like Katrina.
