What happened: President Obama took the podium to talk about reelection. People think there is going to be a problem during his second term because of the things he promised during his first term.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because people can start disliking the president. They can also start trying to hurt him and the United States will start going crazy.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel as though President Obama is doing a good job as president and the people need to give him time to make his promises true. I feel like they are stressing him too much, but he is doing other things to help the U.S. too, so they need to be patient.
Opinion (I think..) I think people only care about what President Obama said in the beginning and not what's going on now. I think if everyone just relax and let President Obama do what he is doing now, then his promises will come true.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it was interesting to me. I also chose it because I wanted to know what they were saying about the President because so many people wanted a black president now people are complaining about him, but they have to take in mind that he has a lot of things to do.

what happened: Recently the U.S. and other countries like Germany came together to prevent the use of nuclear weapons from Iran. they are trying to negotiate with Iran on what should be allowed and what should not be able to be done. The things the U.S. are trying to monitor nuclear facilities and uranium storage. Iran wants nuclear weapons but even Israel, a country not known to always agree with the U.S., agrees with this. The U.S. and Israel say they are prepared to put heavy sanctions on Iran if they are to do so. Iran just had sanctions put down recently . Congress is giving Iran six months till sanctions are put back up. Another meeting is scheduled this week in Geneva.
Why is this relevant; It is happening now and corresponds what I began my current event on earlier. also it talk of government of the U.S. making decisions with other governments to hopefully make a better future.
Reaction: I felt restless because it seems that Iran and U.S. keep making agreements that are broke. It is like things are not being taken seriously. This just makes me feel unsafe and threatened when I hear things like negotiations are not going well.
Opinion: i think that things are still being played careful. Which is needed to prevent real problems. It seems the U.S. knows peace is better tan war and are trying to keep the peace. This is good but i just hope Iran is a little more negotiable and less stubborn or that there is some agreement that will satisfy both countries.
Connection: I chose this article because I really take more interest more international topics than national but this assignment requires more national news but this assignment being not just the U.S. but also including countries like Israel, Iran, and Germany allows me to do both what I like and What is assigned.

Why this event is relevant: With the American revolution, what if people who colonized mars started an insurrection from earth, and started their own nation up there.
Reaction It's most likely not going to happen but the thought of it, it may happen again.
Opinion I think we should colonize it as soon as possible so that we can make the biggest history we can consider.
Connection When people started to come to the Americas to escape the British tyranny. There is not much tyranny in NASA but what if a revolution on mars were to actually take place?

What happened: An environmental, Gina McCarthy felt that the problem of global warming pollution needed to be dealt with, so she gave a speech. Basically, she wants to set brand new rules, disregarding Republicans or any other form of group. She believes that getting environmental improvement is more important than rules. Republicans are opposing Gina McCarthy, saying that it would kill important industries and other jobs. Under Obama, McCarthy has already set regulations reducing carbon dioxide. After Republican-controlled House signed off on the plan to cut the budget to meet the needs of McCarthy and others, the pollution problem will be tackled over the next three years.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because steps/ rules are trying to be enforced to break down on pollution.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes): I knew this was coming sooner or later, so I am not really surprised.
Opinion (I think..): I think this is a good idea because global warming is leading to major problems with our climate.

What happened: In this article, it talks about hospitals delaying dying veterans' operations. Veterans would have to wait or return in months to years to get the proper treatment needed. VAs are not doing what they are supposed to do, help veterans with medical conditions/needs. In May 2011, a patient was in need of medical treatment because the patient had been in pain for several days. Another had to wait nine months to get a colonoscopy, and by the time the patient had to get treated, his disease would have progressed to stage 3 cancer. In July 2011, gastrointestinal appointments had reached 2,500, and patients were waiting eight for appointments. By December 2011, the backlog at Dorn had grown to 3,800 patients. If the Vas won't change their ways, then more veterans will be at risk of dying.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because veterans are still being treated differently by everyone.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes): I was shocked after reading this, like I could not believe that people had to wait for years to get an appointment, especially if the patient was in dire need of medical care.
Opinion (I think..) I think the VAs should try to actually help veterans by scheduling them reasonable and fair appointments.

Why this event is relevant:This event is relevant because it will now bring more attention to the Health care insurance. The insurance might not actually have the same amount of supporters it had in the beginning.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) This is crazy how is this healthcare supposed to be cheaper and people are already complaining. this is not fair they need to change the price to a more affordable rate.
Opinion (I think..) I think they need to look at the good and bad outcomes before they decide to try something new. This can be an even more barrier for the people that can hardly afford the insurance they have now.

What Happened: Florida Republican Representative, Henry Radel, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a criminal act charge of cocaine possession and was sentenced to a year's probation. Henry Radel was told that if he successfully completes his year of probation the charge against him will be dismissed. Radel told the judge that he bought 3.5 grams of cocaine from an undercover police officer. In a statement, Radel claims that he struggles with alcoholism and is going to seek treatment and counseling. The charges against Henry Radel were made public on Tuesday. However, there is now answer on Radel's political future.
Why Is This Relevant: This is relevant because the congress main focus is to be creating and passing legislation that benefits the citizens of the states.
Reaction: I found it interesting that a congress man would even plead guilty to such a criminal act, knowing his personal business is going to be public, leading to all eyes on him. Personally, that would be too embarrassing to me, from hearing the negatives comments.
Opinion: To me, I think that if Henry Radel was a black man, he probably wouldn't have got a year probation. I believe that if he was a black man, then maybe he probably would had got sent to jail for a long time because of these particular kind of drug charges. And also, since he's a Representative, then the judge probably did not make his consequence as bad.
Connection: I chose this article because it was different to a congressman connected to drug charges. Normally, you would usually see normal citizens convicted or confessing to these kind of charges, and for once, it was the other way around.

When: 16 days after Tom Wheeler took over the post of FCC chairman.
What happened? Tom Wheeler, the new FCC chairman wants to change the rule of not using electronic devices on the plane, besides when the plane is lifting off and landing. They would allow people to send emails, texts and download data via internet once the flight is over 10,000 feet in altitude. The argument of not letting this pass government was that it would cause chaos on the plane, between people being too loud talking and problem of getting everybody to shut down the electronics when needed to. Another problem was that the plane is the only place where its peace and quiet with the airport being so chaotic.
Why this event is relevant: this is relevant because that would be a huge change for passengers and the flight workers.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) it seems like a good idea, but it could also be the worst idea or rule they have been coming up with since 2001.
Opinion (I think) I think this new rule would cause so much chaos because people would be so skeptical just because of 9/11 and trying to ensure that doesn’t happen again.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because I don’t like having my phone on airplane mode, one because I be bored and two because if I need to make an urgent call then it takes so long for my system to start back up from being on airplane mode or being off completely.

What happened: gorge has been having problems again with the law about domestic violence. in the last couple of months he has been filed for charges about holding a gun up to three women since September.
Why this event is relevant: this relevant because he was just found not guilty of the trayvon martin case. his wife says he is having problems with his anger. he has threaten people and now a case has formed.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel as though why didn't she say this while the trail was going.
Opinion (I think..) that martin did not receive full justice and based off tis evidence. Zimmerman was the guilty one. he should not be allowed to carry guns and needs to put away. I knew that he was guilty but its a shamed that the can not re-open up the case so the martin family can get justice.
Connection (why you chose this article) I have been so interested in how Zimmerman was living his life and what next was going to happen. at least the court could of done was to take away his rights to guns but no they are just furthering more people in danger like his wife and girl friend.

What happened: This article is mainly about 4 marines who were killed while, in many peoples opinions' the most dangerous job a marine can have, clearing unexploded ordnance at the Pendleton Camp. The article mentions many ways in which the marines doing such a dangerous job have to really think fast and be good at problem solving skills and math skills because they literally have many peoples lives' at stake including their fellow team members and troops. It describes the type of mental focus that marines need to have in order to do a job like this. Basically, on Wednesday morning, at specifically 11 a.m, the four marines were killed while sweeping out a range safer as part of a routine to make future training much easier for marines to come.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because people need to realize that such a dangerous job should be recognized and appreciated. It is relevant to the many bombs and deadly chemicals that go into wars.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I feel very sad about what happen to these four marines because they were killed in the line of duty.
Opinion (I think..) I think that this story should be talked about more on the news and that these people have had to really be brave to be doing the job they were doing.
