What happened: It all started with Mr. Obama saying that he and other powerful countries will help with health care in West Africa, concerning the issue of Ebola. This is a disease that kills a person in less that 48 hours. Right now there are over 5000 people who are infected by the disease, and half of these people are dead. If not cured soon, then there will be 100000 people infected in a matter of years. President Obama has decided to send 300000 troops to theses countries to help aid the expects who are trying to find a cure. .He has also decided to build 17 facilities and each with 100 beds. Also he has decided to make sure that 500 medical workers are being trained each week. 65 workers are being sent to these countries to train these health care workers. And lastly 100000 people will be airlifted of home health kits. In order to do all this there will be a need for $0ne billion . If we do not stop this now it will come back to bit us in the years to come.

When: This event happened earlier this year.
What happened: Ray Rice was suspended by Roger Goodell for two games and he had to pay an equivalent of another games pay. For them hearing about him punching his wife and knocking her out. But when they seen the actual video Rice punishment was increased to an indefinite suspension. But his case was being faught, because the union stated that under governing labor laws, a player/ employee can't be punished twice for the same action when they knew all the facts the first time around. So it's really up in the air if Ray Rice suits up this season or ever again. So because of all this commotion with Rice's suspension, Goodell made some rules on domestic violence involving the players. First offense player is suspended for at least six games, and second offence is life time ban. But that rule dosen't involve Rice's punishment.

Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I was surprised when I heard about this because of what happened. I dont understand why you would hurt a person you love or how it even got that serious.

He warned that they could get in through the southern border, or with fake visas. Many people, including Kenneth, have been saying that ISIS could spread into the US, but security officials said that they don’t see that happening. Kenneth believes that terrorists could easily get into the US with visas, and many of them overstay their visas without anyone coming to tell them to leave. Jeh Johnson, a who works in Homeland Security, says that our government has no evidence stating that ISIS was plotting to cross the southern border. Many people seem to believe that ISIS could easily cross the southern border, since they think it’s under protected, but the military and government has not said anything about this.

What happened: General Martin Dempsey spoke with President Obama to see whether or not sending ground troops to join Iraqi troops would be a good idea. Obama responded by saying that taking immediate action was not the best idea, and that America should basically take its time taking action. President Obama believes that evaluating each of ISIS steps carefully is very critical, because America would not want weapons to end up in the wrongs hands. While some government officials disagree with Obama’s decision, one woman in particular actually agrees with what he is doing. Jeanna Shaheen, a fellow Democrat of New Hampshire actually supports Obama’s request. However, other government officials disagree with this decision, because they believe that this could potentially put America at a disadvantage. The main concern now is to make sure that other rebellious groups are not supplying weapons to another extremist. Ultimately, if America does decide to send troops, they will need to enroll in a training program along with the Syrian citizens who have been forced out of their homes.

Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I think the decision that Obama make is actually a well thought out plan, because being hot-headed and jumping the gun to send ground troops over seas now could put America in a war that is not yet necessary. Taking things slow to observe patterns in ISIS puts the U.S. in a better position on how to actually defeat ISIS.
Opinion (I think..) I think that the U.S. should not fully put itself in the position as to sending ground troops to Iraq now, because it would create unnecessary drama.

The United States wants turkeys president, Tayyip Erdogan to stop ISIS from selling the oil they produce. Mr. Erdogan hasn't taken any action towards ISIS and them exporting the oil.

What happened: President Obama plans to send 3000 US soldiers to West Africa to help contain Ebola by building hospitals for health-care workers who are infected and set up an a station for boats to bring in supplies that will help. The chance of Ebola spreading to soldiers is possible but that's a chance that they might have to take. They want the soldiers to come in and help control things in a non-conflicted way, they want them to come a be a support to help move things along easily.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because its about a world crisis, that involves thousands of lives being lost and it has to come to a stop.
Reaction: I feel sorry for the ones who have lost their family members and I think the military would be extra support for the doctors already trying to contain the virus.

What happened:Isis had captured John in November 2012. He Hadn't been seen since then. Now he has shown up being held hostage by ISIS. ISIS has forced John Cantlie to record video messages and send them out. ISIS has recently been gathering volunteers by using propaganda and video become o messages. CNN was recently notified that a former Unites States citizen from Boston has joined ISIS. The video that was released this month showed the murders of the two journalists, Steven Sotloff and David Haines.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because ISIS is growing largely and may become unstoppable if they keep increasing. If they continue to make propaganda more people will start to follow them.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I am kind of angry because people in the United States are started to become persuaded by ISIS and betraying their home country to join a country against them.
Opinion (I think..) I think we should try to take down the person responsible for making the videos. If we take out the person responsible for the videos they will not be able to create propaganda. If they can't create propaganda then ISIS would not become as large.

What happened: This article is about a teach who is now trying to start a new type of school. She plans on making this school outside of the Philadelphia School District. Instead of being apart of the school district she is now trying something new and on her own. This school that she recently was at and she felt they had enough has strong components to leave and the believe it will be sucessful.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because I attend a school that is apart of the Philadelphia school district.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) I think it is hard to separate from people who you really like and have made a change but the fact that she is doing something new and different, I applaud her.
Opinion (I think..) I think that choosing her own path is the right thing.

Who:This article about Ray Rice.
Where:This happen the elevator of a hotel.
When: Late last year in October.
What happened:This happened late last year before Rice married his wife. He was charged with a domestic violence case in which he knocked out his wife leading to a domestic violence case.And following after there were many domestic violence cases in the NFL.The most recent is the case against Adrian Peterson and the wiping of his 4 year old son.
Why this event is relevant: Because Domestic violence is a big issue that isn't adressed enough.
Reaction This is very sadenig to watch this happen everyday and people go unpunished.
Opinion Their needs to be stricter laws on celeberties and just because they havemoney doesnt mean they need special treatment.
Connection I choose this article because i know people who are heavily affected by domestic violence.
