Article Title: Secret Service Director Pierson Resigns

    Article Date: October 1 2014 4:26 p.m.
    Who: Julia Pierson
Where: Conference of the White house
    When: October 1, 2014
What happened: Due to multiple uproars occurring at the Secret Services where Ms. Julia Pierson the director of the Secret Services had worked, Ms Pierson resigns her position. She had been swarmed with pressure and filled with embarrassment due to the recent breech in the
White house that occurred two weeks prior. Ms. Pierson had personally gave her resignation believing it was for the best of bother the Secret Services unit and the White house and this decision was in similar understand with Barack Obama and Homeland Security Jeh Johnson. In answer of this issue the White house’s Security is being swept over and checked, while a replacement for Ms. Pierson’s spot is underway.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relative because this is something that could have affected everybody if she had really slipped up and the person who breeched the White House was armed many unspeakable things could have happened that would have caused a maximization of events all around the World.

Reaction (I felt that this was indeed a big deal and that its sort of weird that she has failed to do this job. Mostly I can’t think of letting something bad get to where the president is and possibly being the catalyst for a catastrophic event because that is almost what this sounds like could have happened.)

Opinion (I think in all actuality that Ms. Pierson could have done her job better if she wanted, but then again more than one chance to keep a situation under control especially in a government setting in which our president resigns and knowing that past presidents have been assassinated to let multiple breeches to the White house happen does call for another person to up hold that job of security.)

Connection (I can understand this event because some people may not be fit to do their jobs because more than one chance was given and they keep slipping up. While I was working my boss told me all the dos and don’ts that should be taken into careful consideration. In fact many of my coworkers were never seen again after disobeying the rulers more than once strict termination was the only key to making sure that everything would remain up to code and safe.)

Article Title:Officials: California mayor killed by wife
    Article Date:10/2/14
Who: A California mayor and his wife
    Where: In California
    When: 10/2/14
What happened: The mayor of California Crespo was shot and killed by his wife. Crespo and his life were in an argument when his 19 year old son got in between the two. The son and father began physically fighting and the wife went to get a handgun and shot her husband several times in the upper body. The husband was later pronounced dead at the hospital, while the wife was taken into custody.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because many couples get into arguments a lot and it always turn physical and sometimes they don't know how to handle the situation. And sometimes it leads to one dying and domestic violence is a big thing happening into today's world.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) my reaction to this is that I'm shocked that she killed her own husband. I'm upset that one little argument had to lead up to somebody dying.
Opinion (I think..) it's a big thing to make sure everyone isn't going though these types of problems. I think that if one is having a problem like the wife did in this article they should just walk away from the problem.
Connection (why you chose this article) I chose this article because it's the most interesting article I found. I wanted to see how the story played out and when I saw it was all over a argument that drilled me in more because that's the main thing all couples do and that one argument can lead to a lot.

Article Title:Not telling Obama of elevator breach was 'final straw' for Pierson, source says
    Article Date: October 2, 2014
    Who: Barack obama, Julia Pierson
    Where:The CDC in Atlanta
    When: September 16
What happened: An armed contractor was in a elevator with Barack Obama. Obama was not informed of this untill tuesday afternoon. It is the job of Julia Peirson, and the secret service agency to inform President Obama of things like this. She failed to do so, and as a result she has lost Obama's confidence. To make matters worst, there was an incident two weeks ago when a man armed with a knife jumped the white house gate and made it to the front door. This is why President Obama has a concern about Julia Peirsons leadership.
Why this event is relevant: This is relevant because President Obama could have been killed in that elevator, and we wouldnt have a president. Most importantly, his daughters would have to go the rest of their lives without a father.
Reaction: I was shocked when i read this because i watch the news everyday and I have not heard anything about this.
Opinion: I don't know what to think really. I'm just glad to know that Obama is ok and that nothing happened in that elevator
Connection: I chose this article because this is the second time that President Obamas life was in jeopardy due to mistakes of the secret service.

Article title: Protesters target Hong Kong's leader
    Article date: 1 October 2014
There are protesters, who are pro-democracy surrounding the chief executive's office. The protesters sit here to show their discontent with his leadership and Beijing's government. The brazen protesters are thinking of occupying the building's inside to get a better reaction from the government and create a more powerful change. They have been having problems with keeping a stable infrastructure since the British government conditioned into the Chinese government in 1997. Tensions have recently risen between the protesters/people of Beijing and the Hong Kong government. People are beginning to say that the year 2017 will be a good year for them, there will be new candidates and the voters will most likely vote for a new executive chief verses the older ones for a more apparent change. This is relevant because it helps show what people are doing for change in their society. I think that the people of Beijing should sit in on the executive chief's office to protest if they are really serious about where they stand as voices in and for their government. This can connect to a time where I helped my school occupy city hall in order to protest against budget cuts. I remember thinking that it's easy to sit on the couch and voice your opinion, but it shows more what kind of character you are when it comes to something you want, you can be passive and sit on the couch for the rest of your life or you can stand up for what you really want and believe in.

    When: October 2, 2014

What happened: This article is mainly about an 33-year old American cameraman who works for the NBC News in Liberia, has been tested positive for a disease known as Ebola. Ebola is a severe disease or virus outbreak that is caused by an infection in West Africa. This means that the American with this disease was showing or feeling the signs of fever, muscle pain and sore throat. In this situation, the cameraman has to come to the United States in order to get treated with the right equipment for operating Ebola patients.
For many reasons, this virus Ebola is broadcast from wild animals into humans through blood and other body fluids. For example, Ebola is a measurable outbreak where it is unlikely for this disease to spread from one place to another. According to this article, the cameraman is known to be the fourth American affected by this disease Ebola. Hence, Ebola disease can cause severe illness in humans and animals because its infectious.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because it is considered of being one of the first cases of Ebola virus in the United States that's located in a hospital.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes) My reaction to this event is that, this disease can affect many people in a severe way because it's no cure for this outbreak.
Opinion (I think..) I think that this disease should be handled or prevented by avoiding areas of the outbreak.
Connection (why you chose this article) I can connect this article to the Meningitis virus because it is a disease caused by a viral infection that can lead to serious complications similar to the Ebola disease.

Who: Doctors, 2 Infected Patients and family.
    Where: U.S & Africa
    When: August 17, 2014
What happened: This article was about the spread of the new virus called Ebola. Ebola is a deadly virus that causes people to bleed inside and outside their body, usually 90% of people infected by this virus die. This article mainly talked about two specific patients who were recently exposed to this virus and treated in the U.S. The patients' names were Nancy Writebol and a doctor named Kent Brantly. Both patients were missionaries at Africa, where the virus started. Lastly, it talked about what doctors have planned for the two patients, which is using them to help find a treatment for the people exposed to this virus in Africa.
Why this article is relevant: This article is relevant because recently there have been cases where people from the U.S are catching Ebola.
Reaction: I feel unease that there is another virus being brought to the U.S in less than 2 years of each other.
Opinion: In my opinion, it could take a while for doctors to find a cure for this virus because it's still a new and unknown virus.
Connection: This article reminds me a lot of a movie called Contagion where doctors had to find a cure for a disease, and how did it start.

Where:The NBC cameraman was in Liberia.

When:He was hired on Tuesday September 30,2014 and came back with symptoms on Wednesday October 1,2014

He was hired at NBC to do another project in Liberia on Tuesday. and found symptoms he was tested and it took 12 hours for the results to come back and he was pronounced positive for Ebola. He is coming back to the United States for treatment.

Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because if he was not tested and would have just came back to the United States he could have brought Ebola over to the U.S and no one would have knew and it would have spreaded all over and got a lot of people sick.

Reaction: I Felt that this was crazy because I would have never thought of Ebola ever coming to the United States. Also, that man has been over in Liberia for years and this is just happening to him.

Opinion: I think this is very sad because he went over there to help or take care of business and he probably never thought he would get sick. It’s sad that him and his family has to go through this. But at the same time him choosing to go over there he should have know that there was a possibility for him to catch it.

    When: Currently happening
What happened: N.J base went over to help both Liberia in West Africa, and to send more air strikes on the well ran ISIS Army. Bothe of these countries are suffering, because ISIS is terrorizing people and the deadly disease of Ebola is spreading quickly across the West African nation causing shortage of food, transportation, and medical assistance.
Why this event is relevant: This is very relevant, because these people deserve safety and a place to call home. With a uncontrolled disease going around, and being terrorized in Syria or Iraq, you are not safe and there is no food.
Reaction (describe your feelings or attitudes): Unfortunate. There should be some control on the disease, an ISIS Army. The N.J base is doing good work so far.
Opinion (I think..): I think the US needs to work harder at finding a cure, and continue the hunt for ISIS.
Connection (why you chose this article): You can connect the terrorism to Philadelphia, and all the killings that have been on the news so far this school year. Lastly, you can connect Ebola to Aids. So far there is no cure and the disease is still spreading.

  22. Britain order a air strike againt ISIS for the first time: many brave nations farming together to stop iraq and ISIS terror but the true question is who will stay with the u.s when this is all over?

The U.S marines stepped in from retirement to throw a hand in by tracking down the terrorist group locations to eradicate the problem at hand.

As Turkey set preparation to send thier military tanks and soldiers they are still waiting on thier aillies to approve of these tactics.Source: http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/01/world/meast/isis-iraq-syria-strikes/

Article Title: Secret service moving forward in wake of scandal
Article Date: This article was published Thursday, October 2, 2014
Who: This event involves President Barack Obama, the Obama administration, and the secret service
Where: These events took place at the White House
When: The event took place on October 2, 2014
What happened: Julia Pierson, director of the secret service, was let go. Because of several events that she let slip past her the president was put in danger. On September 19, 2014 a man with a knife and the intentions to see president Obama breached the White House gates. In another event the president was on an elevator with an armed criminal. These events led the White House to believe Pierson was apart of a plan to hurt the president. So after several years as director of the secret service Julia Pierson was let go and will be under investigation.
Why this event is relevant: This event is relevant because it talks about the safety of our president. If the president is safe than the country is safe. Because president Obama is such an important figure within not only our communities and our country but other countries his safety is crucial.
Reaction: I feel like president Obama made the right decision to let Julia Pierson go. As the director of the secret service Julia Pierson was not doing her job to the best of her ability. She slipped up twice in one month putting our president in complete danger. The administration and everyone in the White House have every right to believe she was apart of a scandal.
Opinion: I think that it may be time to hire new staff for the secret service. But on the other hand with everything that's going on with Isis and them recruiting people there may be fewer trustworthy people to hire at this time.
Connection: I choose this article because I briefly seen a news report on it and found it interesting. I think that this is completely relevant and should be shared with my generation. At this point there is a lot on the presidents plate with Isis and Ebola the last thing he needs to worry about is whether he can trust his staff anymore.
